Cubs Win First World Series Since 1908
posted by Hanine Mohamed | December 18, 2016 | In SportsIs it 1908? No, it’s 2016, and the Chicago Cubs won the World Series Championship from over a century ago! Many of you already know the basics, the game took place in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Cubs won 5-1.
Fans like Nader Abdelfattah would say that the highlight of the game was Jake Arrieta’s pitching because he had no hits, or mistakes until the 6th inning. Cub fans, like Abdelfattah, are still in shock of this win and are proud of how they took on their opponents the Cleveland Indians. Abdelfattah, like other fans, actually takes the time to travel for these games because of the support and love they have for their teams.
The game was nerve-wrecking when it started, and still couldn’t believe were actually playing in the World Series. Abdelfattah said “that once we scored, it was like the Indians already knew they were going to lose because of the amount of times we kept hitting the game they came to play.”
The Chicago Cubs winning the World Series after 108 years brought joy to many Chicago natives, but as well as the fans everywhere. And many, like Abdelfattah, say that being able to witness something so great.
