First Start to Freshman Friday
posted by Bria Battle | November 25, 2015 | In NewsOn Friday evening of November 20, 2015 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., the freshmen class gathered together enjoying food, games, and entertainment in room 242 of the Rudolph Jones Student Center.
The event was hosted by the Freshmen Class Council, and was an event where the freshmen class had the opportunity to get to know their class council members in a social and casual setting.
The idea to host Freshman Friday for the Class of 2019 came from the Class President Zion Bynum and Vice President Raekwon Butler. The goal was to arrange an event where students could come together and enjoy themselves casually after a long week of classes and work. Another goal for the event was to help get “the class united and enjoy an experience at FSU,” stated Bynum.
Throughout the evening, freshmen were offered card games, board games, video games, such as Madden and 2K, and Juice Pong. While some were playing games, others enjoyed music and conversation with friends. In between the games and music, the freshman class council introduced who they were to their classmates and joined in the fun with everyone else. After having pizza and drinks, dancing and Fayetteville State University history trivia followed with prizes given out. Every activity allowed students to enjoy fun with others, sharing a freshman year memory that they could hold on to forever.
Many students enjoyed the evening’s event and said they would return for a second Freshman Friday with more activities and even more fun. Due to classes, homework and assignments, and other obligations, students rarely get time to relax and enjoy the company of friends. Whenever the opportunity is given, students will take it, and what makes it even better is when they all can come together. After such an excellent turnout Friday evening, it is definitely to be stated that greatness and nothing less can be expected from the freshman class and the class council.
