Haunted House 2 On Campus

In the midst of promoting his new movie “A Haunted House 2”, celebrity comedian Affion Crockett still finds time for his fellow Broncos! Crockett came to spend a day on campus Monday, April 15th.

His long day began in the Rudolph Jones Student Center, where he signed autographs and spoke with students who were in the café. Students had a range of questions for him. From his celebrity lifestyle to his days at FSU, Crockett definitely had all of the answers to their questions. During his Bronco iRadio interview, he actually offered a student so

me key advice in achieving his dreams. Asking him “What’s the thing that keeps you up at night?”

Also due to election season, students had lots of questions about campaigning for the former Mr. Fayetteville State University. Affion Crockett was actually the first Mr. FSU and he worked hard for the title. But Crockett always strives to make it clear that there was nothing special, or different about him. He said multiple times Bryant Hall all four years just to make it clear that he was a normal student prior to his big-screen success.

April 30 Edition copyTo fully understand Crockett’s current success you must understand his past. He was brought up as an army brat and lived in Germany twice for a combined 9 years. After schooling, he found himself here at Fayetteville State University. It was here where he began to explore his gift of entertainment. His first big break before fame was when he hosted the talent show at the Seabrook Auditorium. From that experience he got a lot of inspiration and pursued his talent on a larger scale.

Following graduation, Crockett began to do shows at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte. From there he performed on Showtime at the Apollo, which was his first appearance on television. And he was finally discovered on Def Jam Comedy by Bob Sumter. “He saw something in me, he believed in me,” said Crockett about Sumter. Looking back on his road to success he definitely stressed that the foundation was laid here on campus.

Crockett finished his time with us by reserving a theatre for a free screening of his new movie, A Haunted House 2. The movie was very creative and hilarious, with a rare twist on comedy as it relates to the supernatural. I encourage everyone who missed the free screening to go out and watch the movie in the theatres. You won’t be disappointed.

So Broncos, from hearing and talking with Affion Crockett we should all feel inspired to strive for the highest of achievements. We may not all be singers, actors, or comedians but we definitely have something great to offer the world. We have to remember that our foundation for success will be laid on this campus, so we must begin now.
