Hidden Figures Shines Great Spotlight On Overlooked History

That has changed thanks to the new film based on the real events of these extraordinary women accomplishing unheard feats at a time where the impossible for African-Americans was the only possible thing to continuously accept.
Hidden Figures released into theaters January 6, 2017, with a huge amount of anticipation for people to go see it and it is an outstanding film that no one should miss out. Whether a person is fascinated with history or a movie with excellent acting, messages, themes and drama then Hidden Figures is truly a movie that everyone can find entertaining in the right ways without overbearing one particular movie element over the other. It also deals with issues of racism, sexism, and social class during the early 1960’s.
The story focuses on real-life African-American female mathematicians who worked at NASA in its earliest stages which were Katherine Johnson (played by Taraji P. Henson), a brilliant mathematician who helped confirm the calculations for the Friendship 7 spacecraft before it went to space in 1962, Mary Jackson (played by Janelle Monáe) who became NASA’s first black female engineer and Dorothy Vaughan (played by Octavia Spencer) who became NASA’s first black manager. This brilliant team of women who were all close friends like in the movie helped shaped history at NASA.
The soundtrack which was worked on by musical extraordinaire Pharrell Williams is perfect fitting the fighting spirit of innovation, hope, and progress for the film while fitting the era of the setting while sounding refreshingly adaptable for the new and older generations who watch this film.
The film has incredible acting with the three leading actresses of the film delivering performances that are hard to look away from at any point of the movie and Hidden Figures is special with having so many black female leads in a movie that also did extremely well at the box office. The actresses themselves starring in the film at first did not even know about the existence and the contributions these amazing women gave to NASA until they read the film’s script. These women and their accomplishments went basically close to unknown for decades for such a colossally important moment in American history.
The movie can also inspire young women of any background in societies around the world to follow their dreams and realize there are no limitations for anyone and also enriches an importance of realizing anyone can accomplish great and unprecedented things. One thing can be guaranteed from witnessing this film is that you will want to clap along with everyone in the theater when you see it and for what the movie represents.
