Let’s Have a Round of Applause for my Clumsiness
posted by Faith Ford | September 8, 2016 | In OpinionI clap when I’m at a concert or at the end of a performance or recital or when I’m listening to a speaker. I do those things out of respect for that person. But is it really necessary to clap when someone has a simple accident?
Yeah, it’s time to talk about clapping in the café! Sometimes it gets out of hand and it can just be a little too childish. I don’t want to go in the café and feel nervous that there might be a spill on the floor that I don’t see and end up dropping all of my food because of it. Sometimes it’s hard to carry your three plates, your cup of fruit punch, and your ice cream cone that you’re trying to take to go all at once. No one wants to feel like they just ruined their whole reputation because they might’ve slipped on grease on fried chicken Wednesdays. It’s just crazy!!!
Normally we see that it’s the guys that are the ones clapping and making a fuss about it. But what if one of them were the ones who had a little accident in the café. Would it be as funny? Would people laugh if the team captain of the football team was the one who slipped on the grease on fried chicken Wednesday? I think not!
As a freshman, I notice that there’s so much love here and being a Bronco is something to be proud of, but can I really feel that if my fellow Broncos taunt me? It’s all fun and games until someone really gets physically injured from falling or someone’s feelings get hurt. Maybe you should think twice and think about if you were that person having everyone looking at you clapping and cheering because you couldn’t make it those couple more steps to put your plate down in the trash.
