Push For a Tobacco-free FSU
posted by Cassandra Carter | January 19, 2017 | In NewsStudent Health Services and Bronco Wellness have received a grant from Truth Inventive to research the need for the FSU campus to be tobacco or smoke free.
Currently, the FSU policy on smoking only mentions the Residence Halls and states that students can request a smoker’s room, non-smokers cannot be assigned to a smoking area, and air from the smoking rooms should not be recirculated to other parts of the building. There is also a policy that staff cannot smoke in FSU vehicles.
A tobacco free campus would include smokeless tobacco, e-cigs, or hookah being banned from the premises. An assessment started in October and will end in November. A taskforce is being formed for the advisory board by students, staff, and individuals from the county. The taskforce will then execute Health Education and Wellness Events and a social media marketing plan.
If you are interested in being a part of the taskforce, please contact Letitia Johnson-Arnold in RJSC room 133.
