Residence Life Makes Campus Living Easy
posted by Dajah Johnson | September 8, 2016 | In Arts and CultureThe Department of Residence Life is focused on providing students with excellent experiences through non-classroom learning encounters. The department plays a significant role for students by creating positive educational and living environments. Residential living provides a lot of information that can make it easier to make lifestyle choices relating to success as a college student. Living in residence halls you are provided with different resources and programs. It also provides lots of opportunities to become involved in the university.
For the 2016-2017 school year, Residence Life’s goal is to be about change for the better. The Department of Residence Life is going into a “different world” and ways of implementing themselves. The 1980s and ‘90s Cosby Show spinoff, “A Different World,” which highlights student experience at a fictional HBCU, was used as the theme for Residence Life Resident Assistant and Dorm Assistant training. Throughout this two-week intensive training, student workers learned the ins and outs of Residence Life and much about themselves. Assistants had fun participating in different activities and workshops, while also having a friendly competition dealing with Instagram and hashtags. The overall plan of the training was for the students to get to know their associates and learn how to work together. The training was also intended to get people out of their comfort zones because that is what Residence Life is all about.
Being a student worker, dealing with other students is not easy, but it can be very beneficial. The skills that you acquire from Residence Life as a whole can be a wonderful thing, especially if you use your resources. If you have questions about the Department of Residence Life, please do not hesitate to contact the department. Contact information can be found at: http://www.uncfsu.edu/reslife. As their website says: “The Department of Residence Life works diligently to provide a comfortable and safe environment structured to enhance the academic climate at Fayetteville State University. We are dedicated to integrating education and out of class learning, while providing opportunities for leadership, citizenship and campus involvement.”
