Dr. Frobish has big plans for Bronco Television that includes broadcasting over FSU’s closed-circuit system and pitching pilots for Fayetteville’s cable channel, FayTV.
“We are working with the City of Fayetteville Communications team to air many of these shows over the city’s government cable channel. The broadcasting over the campus’ closed-circuit system will begin in November on its own channel.
The Bronco TV Studio has signed on to film at least four separate shows this semester centered around different topics and issues.
The first show being filmed this semester is a monthly community issues talk show called The Bronco Exchange with Dr. Shanessa Fenner. Dr. Fenner is the principal at the William T. Brown elementary school. The Bronco Exchange features a rotating co-host of students. The first episode, two fifteen minute segments, was an interview with Chancellor James A. Anderson.
The Bronco TV Studio also works in conjunction with FSU Athletics to produce weekly interviews of various student-athletes and FSU coaches from different sports that are posted on FSU Athletic’s YouTube channel and FSUBroncos.com.
Another show already filming is titled “Geek Talk.” Geek Talk returns this semester after a thirty minute, six episode, run last year. It is hosted by Professor Jonathan Chesnutt and student Joshua Soltren. The popular culture talk show discusses everything from comic books, movies, games, and other similar topics. You can watch this series now and more shows soon by subscribing to the BroncoTelevision YouTube channel.
Another show in the works is a “health talk show.” There is also discussion of having a student advice talk show, and cultural programming. There will also be videos to celebrate the campus’ 150th Sesquicentennial Celebration. Filming for those shows and events have yet to begin. Check your email for audition calls for student hosts.
Outside of potentially hosting the show, Dr. Frobish has committed to training students in the behind-the-scenes working of producing a television show. He offers certificates in camera operation, camera switching, lighting, audio, and the teleprompter.
Students who are interested in playing a role with Bronco Television can discuss their interests with Dr. Frobish in Room 207 in the Telecommunications Building or they can send him an email at tfrobish@uncfsu.edu.
