Nashville Covenant Shooting Claims the lives of Six
posted by Kayla Mady | April 3, 2023 | In NewsAiden Hale entered The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee armed with three guns, and took the lives of six on March 27, according to CNN.
Soon after his entrance, police received an unsettling call about shots ringing in the building. Authorities quickly rushed to the scene and were surprised to see how empty the school looked, according to CBS News.
During the police sweep, Hale, who was heavily armed, was shot and killed on the scene. However, it was confirmed after the building was evacuated that three children (Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney) and three adults (Katherine Koonce, Mike Hill, and Cynthia Peak) were victims of this tragedy.
What is known is that this shooting was planned. Evidence was found in Hale’s car as well as in his apartment. Hale’s motive is still unclear, but police are still working on understanding what led to this chilling series of events. A manifesto written by the shooter has been found and will be released soon.
It is believed that The Covenant School was not the only target, according to Police Chief John Drake. On Tuesday, he said that investigators “strongly believe” that Hale was not planning on stopping at the educational institute.
More information will be released to the public as investigators continue to look into the shooting.
