Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, and McKayla Maroney called out the FBI on Thursday, September 16, 2021, for not following up on complaints made about the former U.S.A. Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar back in 2015 from one of the gymnasts.
The gymnasts appeared at the Senate hearing on Thursday.
According to CNN, Maroney gave the FBI a detailed report about the abuse she was receiving from Nassar. The FBI did not report the abuse and 17 months later made false claims about what she said.
Raisman said at the hearing that FBI agents downplayed her account and tried “to convince me that it wasn’t that bad,” according to NPR.
According to CNN, the agent who failed to follow up on the Maroney accusation was fired last week.
According to NPR, Nassar is serving 40-175 years in prison for abusing over 150 girls and women.
