posted by Suryah Ethridge | November 27, 2023 | In NewsFayetteville State University’s NAACP chapter hosted their first annual Spades tournament on November 16. Everybody was invited for a night of fun, refreshments, and games. Students enjoyed socializing with other fellow Broncos and enjoyed learning about the NAACP and what their mission is on campus.
This event was open to anyone, at any playing level, so there were some students who didn’t know how to play spades and there were students who were experts at Spades. For those who did not know how to play, there was a table led by two NAACP members that taught students how to play. As far as the students who knew how to play Spades, they were competing against each other in several rounds.
There was even an option for those who did not want to play Spades at all. There were extra seats and students could enjoy a variety of food and drinks. There were students dancing, laughing and having a good time. At one point during the event, there were students teaching each other different line dances.
The prize for winning the tournament was two crowns and two gold decks of cards. The winners of the Ace of Spades Tournament were: Morgan Wheeler who was the Queen of Ace of Spades and Anthony Shields-Fiffie who was the King of Ace of Spades. There was also a prize for the most improved player who was Kianna Andrews.
The NAACP chapter at Fayetteville State would like to congratulate the winners and thank everyone for coming out and having a great time. If you want to follow up for future events be sure to check out their Instagram: @faysate_naacp.
