Boseman’s Death is a Message
posted by Victoria Walker | September 4, 2020 | In OpinionI cannot speak for everyone, but I never cry over a celebrity’s death, but this one hit hard.
Seeing the news that Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman not only passed, but he passed of cancer really struck me.
Boseman pushed the limits and gave us all the Black king and role model we not only wanted but needed. He was a hero to us on and off the screen. Even with his death he is still bringing a bigger message than we all know.
What is that message?
The message is the only limits you have are the ones you give yourself.
Boseman was diagnosed with his cancer in 2016 just go look at how many incredible roles he has played in that time. In his death, he is bringing the messages of stop using headaches as a reason not to log into class. He is showing us that little knee pain shouldn’t be an excuse not to walk to class. He is screaming: “Get up and stop making excuses for yourself.”
We lost a hero with Boseman’s death.
I remember just like all of you barely being able to sit still the day Black Panther was hitting theaters. I got my advanced tickets and was just filled with so much excitement. Finally, a Black hero and some representation, but Boseman was so much more than that.
He was a true role model, reminding us that it never matters where you go, but to humble yourself and always remember from where you came. He showed us to thank and remember the people who gave to us.
But I think the biggest thing I’m taking from him is know who is truly in your circle. Since 2016 his close circle never spoke or told his biggest secret.
Chadwick Boseman is a true example of a legend and may his legacy live on forever.
