Chinese New Year

On February 18th, Room 238 of the Rudolph Jones Student Center was packed with faculty, staff and guests to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the Fulbright FTLAs and the International Student Association.  Hosted by Jingxin Ma, the evening had a few technical setbacks but the show went on.  It did not seem to matter that the multimedia presentation was disrupted because the guests just moved on straight to delicious food prepared by the students.  The hand-made dumplings were a hit.Screen shot 2015-03-31 at 1.42.33 PM

As the crowd grew and more chairs had to be brought in, the first performance of the night was delivered by Adam Baker (a.k.a DJ Kung Flow) demonstrating his personalized self-taught styled Kung Fu.  Afterwards, Jingxin joined a few other young women who danced with grace and beauty to traditional Chinese music while other Chinese students lip-synched the lyrics.  Lastly, Inner Mongolian student, Saikhan, played the tovshuur, and captured the audience’s awe.
