Dürer To Picasso At FSU
posted by Kayla Mady | September 18, 2023 | In Arts and Culture, NewsOn September 12, Rosenthal Art Gallery presented the Fayetteville State University campus with 36 prints from the Dürer to Picasso exhibit. The exhibit was just a fragment of a collection that can be seen at the Ackland Art Museum located in University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The ambiance in the show hall is silent but the art is so loud. You can find several well-known artists displayed: Salvador Dali, William Blake, Albrecht Dürer, Pablo Picasso, and many more.
It really felt as though you were walking through different time periods. Each piece gives off different historical eras in which they were designed. The art was a wonder in itself. Each piece was so vivid and descriptive yet it spoke no words. The most impressive fact was the emotion that they gave off. Art is not the easiest to read, yet every picture felt as if it could move at any moment. The details were absolutely impeccable, the viewers could make out every change of shading and every individual stroke the artist made.
Printmaking is the artistic procedure of transferring images using ink onto different surfaces like stone slabs, paper, fabric, etc. This allows an artist to create hundreds to thousands several copies/prints of their creations.
An opportunity like this one gracing the Fayetteville campus doesn’t come often. These are some of the most iconic pieces of art: an inspiration from rare generations, one would say.
Students are invited to join all free events and Rosenthal Gallery is also open to the public. There will be a community lecture planned for Saturday, September 30th 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
