FSU Lifts Temporary COVID-19 Restrictions
posted by Jacqueline Leibman | February 15, 2022 | In NewsIn an email students received Friday afternoon, FSU announced that it will lift the “temporary restriction” put in place at the beginning of this semester, effectively immediately.
As of February 4, the campus remains “stable” against COVID-19. The restriction was decided based on the low student positivity rate of 7.2% with 19 active cases.
In accordance with university guidelines and policies, students are now able to resume:
- Visitation in residential halls in accordance with Residence Life Guidelines
- Use of rental facilities and hosting of large events
- Indoor dining in all dining facilities
However, this does not apply to unvaccinated students, faculty, or staff, as mandatory indoor facial coverings and surveillance testing will still be required.
“We are grateful for all the steps students, faculty, and staff are taking to protect themselves and other members of the community, but we must remain vigilant in our efforts to further decrease COVID-19 cases on campus” Dr. Juanette Council, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, stated in a released statement.
The email also made students aware that “COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available on campus Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on the lower level of the Rudolph Jones Student Center.” The vaccine and booster are available to students, faculty, and staff. Upon receiving the vaccination, it is strongly encouraged to take a picture and upload the vaccination card to Medicat.
