Just Go VOTE!
posted by Victoria Walker | September 11, 2020 | In OpinionI know by now we are all tired of hearing about this election.
We have all been there sitting in our groups saying: “The next time I see an ad campaign for the 2020 election I am throwing something.” Although the repetition of ads can get played out, it is just a reminder of how truly important this election is.
While I am in no place to tell you who to vote for, I can tell you some of the reasons we need to vote.
Voting is not just about picking a person for a seat in the White House. When you vote, you’re voting for the changes you want to see. With everything happening in 2020, you need to get out to the polls and vote for the person that you believe is going to make those changes you want to see in our nation. Your vote has the power to stand between the change you want to see happening or not.
This year we are voting not just for ourselves but for the countless people, we have seen face police brutality while no one did nothing about it until we had to protest for it. Vote for the person you believe can change this!
Go to the polls for the people we have lost this year to a pandemic that could have been prevented or eliminated by now. Vote for the person you think is going to change that!
Go to the polls for the people who have to ration medicine because they cannot afford it. Go vote for the person you feel can change that!
Go vote for all the children that are missing due to sex trafficking. Make sure to vote for the person who is going to try to change that!
Go to the polls for the college kids that know they are risking years of debt just to get their education. Vote for the person that you believe is going to change that for us!
Elect a candidate that you feel in your heart is going to make some real changes to our nation.
We are not just voting this year because it needs to be done, we are voting this year because the person we put in that presidential seat for the next four years must be ready to make some huge modifications to America.
We need to vote, so we know we did the very best we could to try for a change in this country. The candidate we put in the seat for the next presidential term must be ready to face and stand by the undoing of decades worth of racism, entitlement, brutality, and so much more that has become rooted in America.
We must get out and vote at those polls this year, so we can start towards a future where #BlackLivesMatter and #SaveOurChildren never has to be a trending hashtag ever again. Our votes are our voices and with those voices can come very real and positive changes to the future that we want to see.
So, yes, the ad campaigns may be annoying, but I hope after reading this you understand that you just need to get out and vote this year. Just go vote!
