Robberies In UPA Affects 32 Victims
posted by Bria Battle | October 3, 2018 | In NewsAuthorities are investigating multiple break-ins at University Place Apartments on the campus of Fayetteville State University. According to the Fayetteville State University Police Department’s daily crime log, the break-ins occurred and were reported at 4:34 pm September 16. Two suspects were spotted on surveillance video walking around the apartment buildings during the crime. Sergeant Robert Dalton, the investigative sergeant for campus police, stated that rooms 101 and 102 of buildings 1321, 1309, 1305, and 1317 were residences of the 32 victims robbed. Victims were notified via email, by their suitemates and other students that their rooms were broken into.
University Place Apartments had no students living on campus at the time because all residence halls closed on Wednesday, September 12 at 4 pm. The victims evacuated only to find out several days later that most of their belongings and valuables were stolen. Student and victim, James Tillery, found out that his Xbox One and Apple Watch were a part of those stolen valuables. Other students had many clothes and shoes stolen out of their rooms.
The Fayetteville Police Department are working alongside campus police in the investigation to identify the suspects from the video footage.
