Bronco-Studded Event Celebrates the Eyes of Bronco Creatives
posted by Breyonna Hardy | March 7, 2022 | In Arts and CultureA Vogue-worthy Bronco photoshoot celebrated the eyes of Bronco creatives and paved the road for the future generation of Bronco innovators.
Yolanda Barnes, who is an administrative support associate for the College of Education at Fayetteville State University, is the organizer of Through the Eyes of Bronco Creatives event.
The event took place on February 25 at the Charles W. Chesnutt Library. Attendees included FSU faculty, staff, and students who were given the opportunity to illustrate their creativeness and show off their good side.
“We were all doing our parts to assist in a photoshoot,” Barnes stated. “We were looking at the different angles like I would shoot from here, shoot it from this side and kind of dawned on us: we should have an event.”
Ms. Barnes is no stranger in Fayetteville, in fact she is well known local photographer and author. She has performed at Givens Performing Arts Center, is an active member of the Fayetteville Arts Council, going by the name of Yogii.
“I am best known for [the songs] Letter to the Abused and Peanut Butter Jelly Time,” Barnes noted.
The Bronco royalty event was designed to get FSU students, even faculty members out of their shell, and unleash their inner creativity. The event is supposed to be a compass for future Bronco creatives.
“The advice I would give up to inspiring creatives is never give up,” Barnes stated. “As soon as you give up, is the moment you almost had it right. Find somebody to look towards and see where they are at and see that you can go there and beyond.”
You can follow Yolanda Barnes on Facebook and check her out on an open mic night around Fayetteville.
