2013 Operation Toy Drop

OTD for OnlineThousands of toys will be donated this year by Servicemen and Servicewomen and members of the communities who want to help. All the toys collected are distributed to children’s homes and social service agencies not only in North Carolina, but in Texas, California, Washington, Missouri, and New York.

The biggest portion of the Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop is an Airborne operation at Fort Bragg, N.C. which combines valuable training and the opportunity to Soldiers and Airmen to help families in need over the holidays. It has become the world’s largest joint and combined airborne operation – with more than 4,000 paratroopers participating in Toy Drop jumps.

Last year’s Operation Toy Drop brought in just under 23,000 toys for more than 30 local social service agencies. Over the last 14 years, this operation has collected and donated over 79,000 toys.

This year, Army Reserve units in Afghanistan, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, Los Angeles, Seattle, St. Louis, and New York City are participating in Toy Drop events in their local areas. These units are collecting toys and distributing them to local social services agencies, children’s homes, and hospitals.
