What’s the Endgame of Avengers: Endgame?
posted by Dominque Elliott | April 24, 2019 | In Arts and Culture, OpinionAvengers: Endgame will be released on April 26, and Marvel fans are buzzing with excitement. After Infinity War left theatre-goers shocked (spoilers ahead) when some of their favorite heroes were killed off– it left fans wondering about the possible and numerous ways their favorite heroes/ heroines were going to get out of this predicament.
The new Endgame posters, trailers, and synopsis only gave fans enough information to raise even more questions, like revealing the unknown deaths of beloved characters through Endgame posters, but not enough information to make conclusions. Therefore, causing fans to become super curious and taking initiative to develop their own scenarios or theories for the up-and-coming Avengers movie.
There have been a variety of fan theories for the movie. One of the most popular is that Captain America will kick the boot. After actor Chris Evans announced his retirement from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Twitter, fans pretty much figured his character was more than likely be killed off. Hopefully, his death will be in a glorified, sacrificial heroic fashion that’s so familiar with Captain America’s actual personality.
Other common theories include: Loki not really being dead, Captain Marvel is the hero to defeat Thanos, Gamora resurrects, the Avengers will time travel, and even Nick Fury’s “cat” (really an alien) will save the universe!
But what do students think about the new and upcoming addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? What exactly are their predictions for the storylines that will progress through Endgame?
“Death.” Andrew Anderson, a computer science major, suggested. “Even though there already was a lot in infinity wars, some old characters are gonna die possibly. If not, just put out of commission.”
“People die and people live.” Dominique Francis, a computer science major, stated bluntly. “Thanos gets his a** beat and game over.”
“Ant-man theory.” Courtney Powell, another computer science major, simply stated, while alluding to a widely comedic and inappropriate Avengers: Endgame theory involving Ant-man and Thanos.
“Somehow they mess up, don’t know how,” Anderson added, “but someone will do it.”
The title of the movie, Avenger: Endgame, alludes to this movie being the final Avengers movie, which have seemingly become the biggest product of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If Avengers: Endgame is the last Avenger’s movie, what could be in store for the Marvel Cinematic Universe next?
“I’m willing to be money,” Tyree Wheeler, a visual arts major, commented, “that newly acquired characters, X-Men, will be introduced in the movie.” “Nah,” Francis seemingly disagreed, “Either continue into the current generation of comics via civil war two or the weird clone war thing.”
