National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is Coming Soon

Untitled

In the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS) (Wade, Keski-Rahkonen, & Hudson, 2011).

Last year the NEDA released the results of a survey that they conducted on college campuses across the country. The data was astounding. The rate of eating disorders among college students has risen to 10 – 20 percent of women and 4 – 10 percent of men. Early detection, intervention and treatment are extremely important and give an individual the best chance of recovery.

How many minutes of your day do you spend thinking about your weight? From counting calories, to watching the scale and worrying about meals, these types of thoughts can easily take over your life. Help break this destructive cycle by taking an anonymous eating disorder screening at www.MyBodyScreening.org. National Eating Disorders Awareness Week is February 23 – March 1. Take the first step to healing today!
