posted by Trevor Lloyd | March 28, 2023 | In News, SportsThe Carolina Panthers shocked the NFL world over the weekend when the team traded up with the Chicago Bears to obtain the first overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Panthers traded their first-round pick (9th overall)and their second round (61st overall) in this year draft, next year’s first round pick, their 2025 second round and young star receiver D.J. Moore.
With this trade, the Panthers can finally get their long-term signal-caller that has been absent since they pushed former franchise quarterback Cam Newton out the back door in 2020. Since then, the team has played musical chairs at the quarterback position, having five different players start at quarterback in the last two years.
New head coach Frank Reich has a multitude of potential picks for the next face of the franchise. Look for the Panthers to select either The Ohio State University C.J. Stroud or University of Alabama Bryce Young, who are the two favorites to have their name called first on draft night. Whomever the team selects, the Panthers need to also get their new signal-callers some playmakers to compete in the wide-open NFC South.
