Dating During COVID
posted by Shania Ingram | October 30, 2020 | In Arts and CultureWith the nationwide shut down of social gatherings, college campuses and travel agencies, the chances of meeting and getting to know a potential spouse over dinner dates have been very unlikely.
If you even get the chance to meet a new person while dropping by Walmart, for example, how do you know for sure what really lies beneath that mask? Think about it. Does the sparkle in their eyes mean that their teeth or their character sparkles, too?
The point is that we all have something to which we are attracted: that determining one determining factor. For some, their potential spouse must have an attractive personality and similar values systems. While for others, personality is not so much of a big deal.
To help us out, software developers and relationship experts have been busy creating and launching several new applications and websites for online dating and matchmaking. Some options are Christian Mingle, Bumble, Upward and the list goes on. Pretty much all social media platform these days are flooded with advertisements aimed at prompting singles to be more intentional about their dating lives. Despite not being able to physically meet new people, there are several other options out there.
While some successfully use these technological options, there are others who are not in favor of online dating. The reason for this is because some view such dating platforms like shopping for clothes online. You are often impressed by the advertisements and testimonial of others who have used a particular website, and out of excitement, you rush into purchasing the product only to realize that the expectation differs greatly from the reality. It is quite evident that people and products are not the same but what you see is not always what you get.
Do not get it wrong: The goal here is not to insinuate that online dating is a total waste of time. If you are searching for love, then do not hesitate to take the opportunities that present themselves. But keep in mind that what works for one, does not work for all.
