DINING HALL EXPANSION

An addition to the Rudolph Jones Student Center was initiated earlier this year. Through all of the traffic disturbances, loud noises, and other inconveniences, comes the time to reap the benefits. Initially, the project was supposed to be complete near the end of the fall 2015 semester, but a combination of decisions have allowed the completion to come sooner—as in by the fall. Yep, you heard it right—the new “caf” will be complete this fall in time for the new school year!

We’ve all been waiting patiently, wondering when it’ll be ready. And now you know!

Hearing the news that it’ll soon be open is alright, but I’m sure you’re dying to know what will be inside! I spoke with the project director Mr. Richard Cox about just that, and here’s what he said:

“There will be a larger dining area and micro restaurants in the upper level ‘caf’, a new suite of Student Government offices, a quiet lounge, and two conference/meeting rooms near the old TV lounge. There will be a large multipurpose room that can be divided into smaller rooms that takes up most of the upper floor of the new addition. The bowling alleys are gone, and in their place is an expanded game room/ lounge area with a Grill immediately adjacent to the lounge area, and a 100 seat movie theater. The rest of the lower level addition will have Early College Dining, the Post Office, Bronco Card Office, The Voice office, Yearbook office, and another large Student lounge.”

Sounds great to me! But, we must remember to thank Mr. Cox, Mr. Cardenas, and everyone else on the team for the project for all of the energy they’ve put into the project. He and his crew are truly devoted to getting things done while still considering the opinion of the students. With that being said, if you would like to suggest anything to Mr. Cardenas regarding future projects, I encourage you to contact him. He is truly welcoming to all of the advice, and we should take advantage of that. Continue to thrive Broncos!
