posted by Antonio Mitchell | April 16, 2021 | In News, SportsThe Fayetteville State University softball team this year has a 4-5 overall record and in conference play they have a 2-5 record. Heading into their third overall conference match-up of the year, FSU needs to play a great overall game to get them back on track.
They had a chance to turn it around this week with the first game of a doubleheader against Winston Salem State University on Thursday, April 15. And they did turn it around with two wins: 5-0 and 9-4.
FSU will also play WSSU Saturday April 17 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Player Mikayla Jackson said: “We see the areas where we need improvement, so we are consistently working hard in practice.” Jackson also stated: “Although we are missing our first baseman and catcher, we adapted and overcome. ….We are going into tomorrow’s game with the mindset of having the right attitude, confidence and aggressiveness the second we step onto the field.”
Jackson plays UT (utility player), which is a player who can play various positions that is asked of them. She is also a junior and majoring in biology.
Now we will see with all the demanding work FSU put into practice if they can come away with some dubs today and Saturday.
