FSU Volleyball Wins CIAA Quarterfinals, Falls in Semis to ECSU
posted by Jordan Chigubu | November 15, 2022 | In News, SportsOn Monday, November 7, Fayetteville State University’s Broncos Volleyball team went against the Panthers of Virginia Union University in the quarterfinals of the 2022 CIAA Volleyball Championship tournament.
Through the first set, the Broncos had things going in the right direction as they won the set 25-15.
The Panthers were determined to stay in the game, as they played an aggressive second set, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Broncos. Broncos took the set 25-19.
Going into the third set and the Broncos had a 2-0 lead. To say the pressure was on the Panthers to win a set would be an understatement, as once again the lead kept on changing.
When it was all said and done, the Broncos would go on to win the third set 3-0 with a 25-21victory.
Both teams competed very well, but there was just something about this Broncos volleyball team that just wouldn’t go down. It didn’t matter how much they were down by they stood by each other through all three sets to get the sweep.
The Broncos moved on to the semifinals against the Elizabeth City State University Vikings in Salem, VA on November 11.
This matchup between two very talented volleyball teams was worth watching. Both wanted to make to the finals and win the CIAA Volleyball championship.
Ultimately the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University beat the defending champs Fayetteville State University Broncos with a 2-3 win, and went on to beat Shaw University in the finals.
