Mr. Bronco Gallops to the CIAA Championship
posted by Je'Lesa Jefferson | April 6, 2017 | In News, SportsThe CIAA championship was action-packed for everyone involved.
The cheer squad had a cheer exhibition where each squad did a routine. Sure, some were nervous, but they put their best foot forward. For our current Bronco mascot, DeAngelo Wilkes, it was their first time experiencing the championship first hand.
“My experience was a blessing to be there because I always dreamed about being out there. Not many people can say that they have been there,” Wilkes said.
The days ran so long that there was barely anytime to sleep, but did that bother the team? Of course it didn’t because they felt that it was worth it. From the time that their feet touched the ground in Charlotte, everyone was put on a tight schedule that involved several hours of practicing.
Not only were there competitions, but there was also an interview held by Power 98, along with pictures taken by ESPN.
The cheer squad also visited a local elementary school in order to encourage young children and create a lasting impression. Our Bronco was even referred to as being “the best mascot out there.” To round off the cheer exhibition all of the squads ended in a unity cheer.
