Senior 2024 Spotlight and Farewell to SGA President Maya Martin

Martin is from Charlotte, North Carolina. She graduated from Mallard Creek High School in 2020.
Martin became a Bronco in the Fall 2020, pursuing English language & literature degree with a concentration in pre-Law and paralegal studies with a passion to one day become an attorney for our community.
Martin has hit the ground running since attending Fayetteville State University. She has been actively involved in numerous organizations and initiatives on campus, such as Student Government Association serving as student body president, FSU Honors Program member, co-chair of FSU Committee for 2024-25 Campus-Initiated Tuition and Fee Adjustment, student representative for the Voter ID Taskforce, chapter president of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Delta Xi Chapter, ex-officio member of the Fayetteville State University Board of Trustees, Region H director of the SGA Presidents Consortium, yard ambassador for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, student liaison for the UNC System OER and Affordability Council, lead student representative of Voter Friendly Campus Action Plan, and recipient of both the John L. Barnhill Civic Trailblazer Award and Judge Ola M. Lewis Pre-Law Scholar & Fellowship.
After graduation, Martin plans on attending law school and becoming a licensed attorney and public servant for the great state of North Carolina.
As she finishes her time here at FSU, Martin wanted to leave some special advice to tell her freshmen self: “Never give up, you are doing much better than you think.”
Martin will also be speaking at her graduation as a farewell in her role as SGA president.
Congratulations, Maya, your hard work, dedication, and drive have inspired us Broncos to pursue our heartfelt desire, and contribute as much as possible for the university and our community. You change the lives of others, and exemplify what it means of being a true Bronco. FSU wishes you a phenomenal career journey ahead, and we thank you for all that you do.
