Students Rally Against the Removal of Miss FSU
posted by Misha Thomas | February 24, 2017 | In NewsAfter business hours on January 27 at 5:59 p.m., students at Fayetteville state received an email stating that Bria Parker, Miss FSU, would no longer hold the acclaimed title. In a press release, the college stated, “Ms. Bria Perkins is no longer serving as Miss Fayetteville State University. Fayetteville State University believes this is in the best interest of the University and its students. We appreciate her service as Miss Fayetteville State University and wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
January 31st students took to protesting, through signing a petition started by Arabhis Nicholson. Ardent students took to social media using the hashtag #bringbriaback, shortly after a public protest began outside the Rudolph Jones Student Center. Together students, voices their outraged and demanded answers. Rallying together students marched to the chancellor’s office and student affairs, but were met with locked doors. The protest initially around 11:20 and lasted until 2:30. Around 4 p.m. students sat down with administration for a meeting. The meeting ended almost 3 hours later.
Efforts to reach out to Perkins were unsuccessful. FSU administration stated they had no further comment when contacted
