Bronco Square Profile: Memphis, Tennessee-inspired pizza and wing establishment, Binkie’s
posted by DorMiya Vance | November 1, 2021 | In NewsBinkie’s is a new Memphis, Tenn.-inspired pizza and wings restaurant over in Bronco Square. The restaurant opened a day before Fayetteville State University held the “Changing of the Keys Ceremony” after the university “announced the $5 Million 100% debt-free acquisition of “Bronco Square” shopping mall located at 1047 Murchison Road,” according to the FSU News Press Release.
In his interview, Binkie’s manager Will Westley explained the history of the new restaurant. He also talked about the name selection behind the establishment.
“Binkie’s is a restaurant that was conceived from [Gerald and Jeff Nickelberry] to bring the Memphis taste from Memphis, Tenn. to Fayetteville, NC. This taste is a unique blend of herbs and spices. Just tender love and care when it comes to cooking chicken wings and making Memphis-style pizza. ‘Binkie’ is Jeff’s nickname, so we named the restaurant ‘Binkie’s,’ Westley said.’
Westley informed everyone that the menu at Binkie’s has something for all visitors. He went on to discuss the signature dishes the restaurant has to offer.
“One of the most popular signature dishes we brought here is the Honey Gold wings. The Honey Gold wings have a unique taste. It’s like a marriage between barbeque sauce and honey as well as other wonderful blends to give you that unique taste,” Westley said enthusiastically.
Aside from the food, Westley also spoke on the diverse culture of Binkie’s.
“It’s just like our families. We have people from all walks of life who come in here, and we embrace those from all walks of life. Nobody is greater, and nobody is lesser. We all are family,” he said, “Each customer that walks through that door, we treat them as they are—a wonderful, valued customer.”
Looking towards the future, Westley is very optimistic about the direction of Binkie’s with the help of FSU students and staff.
“The thing that we hope to accomplish, and we are accomplishing, is to bring the Memphis taste to FSU. We would love to be able to serve more of the students here. However, because we’re not using BroncoBucks yet… we’re really pushing for BroncoBucks. The students are pushing for BroncoBucks, so hopefully, we’ll be able to use BroncoBucks at the start of next semester,” Westley explained.
Westley and the entire Binkie’s team look to expand their brand out into the communities of Fayetteville while growing the student presence within the establishment.
“FSU, we need your support. We need those BroncoBucks. Let’s make it happen,” Westley reiterated.
