Ralph has had many iconic roles that were arguably deserving of many awards. She is known for her roles in Moesha and Sister Act 2, but the role she is most known for is Deena Jones in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls.
Ralph said in her acceptance speech: “To anyone who has ever, ever had a dream and thought your dream wasn’t, wouldn’t, couldn’t come true, I am here to tell you that this is what believing looks like. This is what striving looks like.”
Ralph at the age of 65 is an example that no matter how old you are or what obstacles you may face, dreams can always still come true.
Fellow cast mate and show-creator, Quinta Brunson received an Emmy for outstanding writing for a comedy series. Brunson, who plays the lead role of Janine Teagues, is the youngest black woman to receive her award at the age of 32, according to NBC News.
