posted by DorMiya Vance | November 1, 2021 | In NewsOn October 24, family and friends gathered together to celebrate the life of Ramik ‘Kimar Flows’ Watkins, 31. Kimar Flows was a Fayetteville artist who was also a member of a local music group/label, 47xx Regime.
Ramik ‘Kimar Flows’ Watkins, 31, was involved in a three-car crash on Sunday, October 17, resulting in two deaths only ten minutes before 8 p.m.
Hosted by Elizabeth Stiff, C.E.O. of the L3 Brand, the vigil honored the life of Flows and brought light to his musicianship as well as life as a young father.
“He was someone that was cherished by so many,” Stiff said at the opening of the event.
As the family came up to speak about their memories with Flows, his wife, Yasmin Watkins, was one of the first to express grief after losing her husband.
“I really just wanted to thank everybody for coming out to celebrate my husband’s life,” Watkins said through tears, “everybody who knew him really did love him, whether he had it out with you in some way or it was love all the time, Ramik was Ramik through and through. Nobody was gonna change that.”
As Watkins spoke, members of the family and community felt her pain as she continued.
“I don’t even really know what to say because it still feels kinda unreal. I don’t know when I’ll come to terms with it, but I will say my husband dearly loved everybody that loved him and I’m really gonna miss him.”
The vigil continued with other family members coming up to speak, including Flows’ mother, Ms. Watkins.
“I’m lost for words right now. I am so appreciative of all of you to show your love to Ramik and to know that you really did love him because sometimes that he thought nobody loved him but me. I’m just here to say thank you so much. I’m so broken right now; it feels like a knife is in my heart. I love Ramik so dearly. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without him,” Ms. Watkins said.
The many unique memories shared of Flows were poured out into the lives of many who attended the vigil. As the event came to a close, the family presented balloons in remembrance of Flows and released them as his song “My N*****” played in the background.
Before his untimely death, Flows released a novel-like album, Thank God I’m Flow 2, or T.G.I.F. 2. T.G.I.F. 2 is a twelve-song project that is roughly thirty-five minutes long to showcase versatility from Flows. Each track presents a different piece from his life and how he learned from the experiences. Focusing on family, love, and success, Flows displayed immense growth from previous projects.
Kimar Flows is remembered through his wife, Yasmin, his sons, King and Qunicy, his family, friends, community, and music.
