April is National Financial Literacy Month and what better way to kick off the month than by educating the upcoming generation?
On April 5, author and alumna of Fayetteville State University Crystal McLean held a book reading with Trinity Community Services’ Pre K class through the FSU Alumni reading program.
McLean read her children’s book “No, No, Sonny, Save that Money!: A Fun Rhyming Book about Money, Saving, & Investing.”
During the story-time, McLean taught the pre-k class three fundamental principles of finances which were, “save, share, spend.”
After the reading, the class had the opportunity to create their own piggy banks to take home and save their money.
McLean holds a bachelor of science degree in banking and finance from FSU. She is passionate about bridging the gap between generations and teaching people applicable principles of money so that they can live financially free lives.
If you would like to learn more about McLean or participate in FSU’s Money Smart Week, please come out to Chesnutt Library on April 11 to hear her teach about finances.
