FOXY Mobilizes for a Cause
posted by Jelia Hepner | November 25, 2015 | In NewsVictims are still recovering from the most devastating flooding in history to ever hit South Carolina. Meanwhile many activists such as people like Tap Mosango, a program direct of the radio station Foxy 99 have gone above and beyond to collect and deliver supply to those affected by the storm.
Foxy 99, a local radio station from the company Beasley Broadcast decided not to just send donations and money but to actually gas up some vehicles including U-Hauls to make several trips to help victims.
On October 14th and Oct 29th, Tap Mosango and other members of Foxy 99 took their efforts to not only collect donations but to rent out U- haul trucks in order to go down to South Carolina to provide victims with supply that was needed. They collected everything from bottles of water, food, diapers, cribs, clothes, shoes, animal food and the list goes on and on.
“We came up with an initiative called FOXY FOR A CAUSE, #THE MOVEMENT. We went down with supply to help those in need, especially those in Columbia, South Carolina that is where the storm hit the hardest. We wanted to be hands on, to get to see the faces of people, and we wanted to touch the people,” stated Tap Mosango.
Fayetteville among other cities in North Carolina have been coming together in hopes to help South Carolina victims during this difficult process of getting back to the norm in their state.
“It’s a message that we needed to get out to South Carolina is that people care! We came up with the initiative at the last movement WE HAVE YOUR BACK SOUTH CACK! People get through tough situations better when they have hope. North Carolina is strong. South Carolina is strong, so individually the states can hold their own but when they come together they become powerful, its strength in numbers,” said Tap Mosango, a big smile on his face.
South Carolina has made good progress, but there are still many victims out there who need any help they can get. Anybody can still help out and donate by going to your local Red Cross, church, finding a United Way company or researching ways to donate money that will support the cause.
