FSU Welcomes Its New Chancellor: Darrell Allison

According to an email sent to students, Mr. Allison was elected by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors. Since July 2019, FSU has been headed by Interim Chancellor Peggy Valentine. The email also confirmed that Allison will take over his role as the 12th chancellor of FSU on March 15.
As reported by WRAL, Mr. Allison was a former member of the Board of Governors and was once a trustee at North Carolina Central University, another HBCU in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Allison is considered an advocate for Historically Black Colleges in North Carolina and, as of now, he serves as the vice president of governmental affairs for the American Federation for Children.
According to a press release by Chairman of the FSU Board of Trustees Stuart Augustine: “We are thrilled and excited to welcome Mr. Allison to Fayetteville State University.”
While many students took to social media to share how they felt. Sophomore criminal justice major Will H. said “While I’m excited for the change, it is still a change we will all have to adjust to. We just have to wait to see if it is truly a positive change. Anyone can look good on paper.”
Mr. Allison has a career history that shows his commitment to service as well as to HBCUs. Either way Bronco Country is proud to welcome their new chancellor and looks forward to the positive impact he can bring to FSU.
