Lady Broncos defeat Bears

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State tennis program improved its record to 3-5 overall and conference wise with a 7-2 victory over the visiting Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College.

After a 3-0 lead following doubles-play at Mazerick Park, the Lady Broncos picked up four more points from the Singles competition. Selena Cox (Wilmington, NC) defeated Shannon Davis 6-2 and 6-1 in the #3 spot and Taheiya Foster (Fayetteville, NC) gained the advantage over Arria Evans with the same scores from the #5 position. Samantha Ledbetter (Fayetteville, NC) was given credit for a win by forfeit in #1 Singles and Vanaysha Graham (Tabor City, NC) won by default in #6 Singles.

From doubles play, Ledbetter and Taylor Norris (Grand Island, NE) defeated Tenesha Dickerson and Miracle Wigfall 8-3 in the #1 spot. Cox and Graham won 8-4 over Davis and Evans from #2 Doubles while Laura Worriax (Mamers, NC) and Foster won by default.

The Lady Broncos will travel to Richmond, VA on April 5-6 for make-up games against Virginia Union and Bowie State.
