Movie Theater Review

Robert Cornell – Writer

I decided to visit Carmike Cinemas 12, a movie theater located at the Westwood Shopping Center at 362 Morganton Road in Fayetteville. It was my first time visiting a movie theater that wasn’t the one I’m used to visiting back home.

Overall, I thought that the theater was decent. At the entrance, there are windows where you buy tickets. Depending on foot traffic, you can occasionally buy tickets at the concession stand to make it more convenient to get tickets and snacks. There’s also an arcade in the lobby located near the entrance to the theaters.

The bathrooms looked clean, of course one of the toilet seats was loose, but overall a decent restroom. The bathrooms also had dispenser machines for paper towels, a nice addition to make it easier for theater traffic to get back to their movie quickly.

Different parts of the theater halls felt like a maze, and it was easy to feel lost as a newcomer to the theater. Carmike 12 has posters of upcoming movies plastered along the walls, but everything seems clean and well taken care of.

The screens didn’t appear to be the newest technology, but the movie could be seen clearly on the screen and heard with little difficulty. One more thing that I’d like to point out is that before a movie is played, the screens always display special effects, such as popcorn falling down, soda filling the screen, and soda being sucked up by a straw; which I have to admit was pretty sweet.

My overall thoughts? While it may not be the best movie theater I’ve experienced (and I haven’t been too many), I thought that it was a decent and the staff were very friendly. I give it three out of five stars.
