Mr. and Miss FSU: Can I Get a Mental Health Check? (Video)
posted by Law | September 18, 2020 | In NewsMr. & Miss Fayetteville State University sat down with The Voice to discuss the issues surrounding mental health in this new normal: COVID-19 Bronco nation.
“I was terrified to go home. My sister is pregnant, and I could be asymptomatic. I don’t want to expose anybody to anything, so I haven’t been home much just to be safe,” said Miss FSU DaBria Bullock.
According to the CDC: “The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been associated with mental health challenges related to the morbidity and mortality caused by the disease and to mitigation activities, including the impact of physical distancing and stay-at-home orders. Symptoms of anxiety disorder and depressive disorder increased considerably in the United States during April–June of 2020.”
Bullock speaks candidly of how she turned to DIY projects and arts and crafts to reduce her anxiety during quarantine. Paint brushes and stretched canvas of various sizes allow Bullock to make new creations from old objects.
