Opinion: Artificial Intelligence on the Rise
posted by Cheyenne Kennedy | October 2, 2023 | In News, OpinionThe use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on the rise for various uses, becoming ever more complex and human-like. In the recent weeks, there was an update for Tesla’s AI-robot, which is representative of human size and model. In this update, we saw that the robot can make human gestures, see color and differentiate them when categorizing, and can correct itself. With these fast technological advances, people are becoming more divided.
Robots, not only those with artificial intelligence, have been under fire for taking jobs from people, and making people lazier than ever. Though these robots can help make advances in humanity, as seen with those capable of reading medical scans and giving CPR.
It is also bringing up concerns that technology will fight back. Many argue that if we are teaching technology to have near unlimited resources, then what is stopping it from taking over our lives.
AI is capable of growth due to the databases it is fed. Thus, if fed negative things it will output negative things.
Robots are not the only use for AI. AI can also make pictures, write essays and scripts, and so much more.
As of now, we do not know the limits of AI, as it is also capable of recognizing objects in photos, or real life, and integrating the use of spatial awareness.
With Tesla being the largest company to build upon AI and integrate it into robotics, there is the addition of AI being used on the road. Tesla vehicles are integrating AI so that they are using spatial awareness and navigation to be able to drive autonomously.
There is much room for growth if we are using technology for the advancement of humanity. If we continue to explore what AI is capable of, then we must also recognize that there are dangers involved along with it.
