Student Candidates Battle Head-to-Head at the Bronco Candidate Convention
posted by Breyonna Hardy | March 8, 2022 | In NewsFayetteville State University student candidates battled it out for top tier positions at their very own Bronco Candidate Convention.
DaMonica Perry, Lamya Moffett, and Jah-Mez Coley are just a few of many FSU student candidates that are vying for prestige positions of the Student Government Association such as Student Activities Council Program Director, Student Government Association Vice President, and Mr. Senior.
The event occurred on March 1 at the Rudolph Jones Student Center. The FSU community gathered around and witnessed candidates give their speeches and try to garnish as much support one last time before voting which occurred March 3 and 4.
Jah-Mez Coley, who is a candidate for FSU’s Mr. Senior, who contributed a lot in the FSU community and vows to execute change in the community to make FSU a more positive, supportive place.
“I want to have to have the platform where students can turn negative things in their past positive,” Coley stated. “When I am elected Mr. Senior, plan to create events that help students to have the energy and support they need to keep going.”
Perry is no new-comer to SAC, she has been a member for quite some time and now aims for SAC program director position.
“For me, it is building a family-oriented campus, as of right now, dealing with COVID, we don’t have enough of that,” Perry explained. “I just want to get everybody out of their dorms, that is my main goal, providing the word and spreading it so we can that love, unity and laughter.”
Moffett, who is an active member of the FSU community is shooting for the stars as she aims for SGA VP.
“It is important is to get yourself out there and have students vote for you and show who you are as a person or individual,” Moffett Stated. “I want to let individuals know who I am as a human being and as a leader.”
