The Fayetteville community welcomes a new member named the Fayetteville Stingers
posted by Breyonna Hardy | April 11, 2022 | In SportsThe community of Fayetteville welcomes a new athletic member to its family-oriented environment: the Fayetteville Stingers, the new minor league basketball team.
In Fayetteville, there are a lot of places where the community can come together: from events from the Fayetteville Arts Council, to the prestigious Fayetteville State University’s array of events and opportunities, and now the community extends their welcoming hands to the upcoming Fayetteville Stingers.
Raymond Phillips is the general manager of the Stingers. Phillips stressed the meaning of “community” and “wholesomeness” in the world of sports.
“I had an opportunity to mentor young men and give them a second chance at the sport they have always loved and cherished,” Phillips stated. “Although those were all great opportunities, I’m ready to take on another challenge and contribute to the overall goals of the Fayetteville Stingers as the General Manager.”
The Stingers were founded by Kenneth Bishop, who is the team market owner, in January 2022. The Fayetteville Stingers’ main goal is to achieve the close-knit relationship with the community of Fayetteville.
“Our goal is simple: To build a solid relationship with the city of Fayetteville while providing both on and off the court,” Phillips said.
Phillips and the Stingers plan to bring joy the Fayetteville community by hosting community events throughout the city and establish opportunities for college students, including those from the one and only Fayetteville State University.
“Community is a big deal for not only me but the whole Stingers organization,” Phillips stated. “Once I touch down in the city of Fayetteville, I will be out shaking hands and introducing myself to the community building relationships that matter.”
