Women Who Conquer: Women’s History Month Event at FSU
posted by Dr. Eugenie Almeida | February 21, 2020 | In Arts and CultureThe Women’s History Month Committee along with Association for Women in Mathematics Student Chapter are holding a panel for five participants entitled “Women Who Conquer: Celebrating Women Who Overcame Obstacles to Become Great Achievers.” Our panel will run for 90 minutes with 60 minutes of the panel presentation and 30 minutes for questions and discussion.
The participants will be Fayetteville Police Chief Gina Hawkins, Mathmatics Support Center Lead Tutor Cassandra Sutton, Dr. Kaycee Bills, The Voice Editor-in-Chief Keyona Smith, and Deputy Director Ze Surrat of the Rape Crisis Center of Cumberland County. Chief Hawkins is the chief of police in Fayetteville, Ms. Sutton is a graduate student in mathematics at FSU, Dr. Bills is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at FSU and represents the disabled population of FSU women professors, Keyona Smith is a graduating senior in the Department of Communication, Languages, and Culture, and Ms. Ze Surrat represents Rape Crisis of Cumberland County.
We will also be giving free books away to students who attend in primarily math and computer science but also communication.
The presentation will be from 2-3:30 on March 24, 2020 in the Student Center.
