150 años de Fayetteville State University: celebrando la visión de sus fundadores, la cultura, los idiomas y la diversidad.

Los padres fundadores crearon la escuela con una misión: “establecer una escuela … para el beneficio de los niños de color …” Esta cita viene directamente de la declaración de la misión original dada por los padres fundadores de Fayetteville State University hace 150 años. Hasta el día de hoy, la celebración de los niños afroamericanos continúa a través de la aceptación cultural en el campus y en las áreas circundantes. Actualmente, las culturas de personas de todo el mundo y sus idiomas se enseñan en Fayetteville State University para reconocer y cumplir con la misión de proporcionar a los estudiantes afroamericanos una educación integral y la capacidad de convertirse en ciudadanos globales capaces de valorar no solo su cultura, pero también la de otros. La celebración del multiculturalismo e idiomas es continua en el campus de Fayetteville State University y más allá, como lo demuestra la organización de programas de Estudios en el Extranjero en países que incluyen China, Viena, Londres, Barbados y España. Actualmente, Fayetteville State University ofrece cursos en francés y yoruba, así como también sub-carreras en chino y español, un certificado en Dominio del idioma español, una especialización en español y español con licenciatura en enseñanza. Además, durante el año académico se llevan a cabo diferentes eventos que enfatizan la cultura y el lenguaje como: el Día de Conciencia Global, Ferias de Estudio en el Exterior, presentaciones culturales informativas por parte de FLTA (Asistentes de Enseñanza de Lenguas Extranjeras) y estudiantes extranjeros de intercambio de todo el mundo. Al igual que las celebraciones del Mes de la Herencia Hispana organizadas por el Comité del Mes de la Herencia Hispana de la Facultad de Artes y Ciencias y el Club Hispano de FSU.
A medida que la tecnología y los medios de hoy hacen que el mundo sea más pequeño y esté más interconectado, seguramente los Padres fundadores estarían encantados de ver cómo su visión inicial se ha expandido e ido más allá, llevando a sus estudiantes fuera del aula, de Fayetteville e incluso los de Estados Unidos.
150 Years of Fayetteville State University: Celebrating the Vision of its Founders, Culture, Languages and Diversity.
Fayetteville State University celebrates cultural diversity on its grounds and has done so for over 150 years. The founding fathers of the campus created the school with one mission: “to establish a school… for the benefit of the colored children…” This quote comes directly from the original mission statement given by the founding fathers of Fayetteville State University 150 years ago. To this day, the celebration of African American children continues through the cultural acceptance on the campus and in surrounding areas. Currently, the cultures from individuals from all around the world and their languages are taught at Fayetteville State University to acknowledge and keep with the mission of providing African American students with a well-rounded education and the ability to become global citizens able to value not only their culture but also that of others. The celebration of multiculturalism and languages is ongoing on the Fayetteville State University campus and beyond as is evident by the organization of Study Abroad programs to countries that include China, Vienna, London, Barbados as well as Spain. Currently, Fayetteville State University offers courses in French and Yoruba as well as minors in Chinese and Spanish, a certificate in Spanish Language Proficiency and a majors in Spanish and Spanish with Teaching Licensure. Furthermore, different events that put Culture and Language front and center are carried out throughout the academic year such as: Global Awareness Day, Study Abroad Fairs, informative cultural presentations by FLTA’s (Foreign Language Teaching Assistants) and foreign exchange students from all over the world. Also, Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations are organized by the College of Arts and Sciences Hispanic Heritage Month Committee and the FSU Hispanic Club.
As today’s technology and media make the world smaller and more interconnected, surely the founding Fathers would be excited to see how their initial vision has been expanded and gone beyond, taking its students outside of the classroom, of Fayetteville and even of the United States.
