Beijing 2024 Winter Olympic Team USA’s Second Week Medal Recap

Saturday, Feb. 12:
Gold, Mixed Team Snowboard Cross: The winning combination of seasoned Olympians Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner proved fruitful after winning the inaugural event. This was the second gold medal for Jacobellis and Baumgartner’s first medal after four Olympic Appearances.
Sunday, Feb. 13:
Gold, Speed Skating Women’s 500: Erin Jackson became the first female Black American to win a speed skating event as well as the first American woman to win the event since 1994.
Monday, Feb. 14:
Bronze, Ice Dance – Free Dance: Madison Hubbel and Zach Donohue earned personal bests in the rhythm dance with a score of 87.13, bringing their total score to 218.02. The second U.S. ice dance pair, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, placed just off the podium in fourth with a score of 214.77.
Gold and silver, Women’s Monobob: Kallie Humphries earned her fourth Olympic medal but first medal as an American citizen. The former Canadian was joined on the podium by Elana Meyers Taylor who took home the silver. Meyers Taylor became the most decorated Black Winter Olympic athlete as well as the oldest American woman to win a Winter Olympic medal.
Bronze, Freestyle Skiing – Women’s Aerials: First-time Olympian, Megan Nick, broke a 24-year medal drought in the event. Nikki Stone was the last American to medal during the 1998 Olympics.
Tuesday, Feb. 15:
Bronze, Speed Skating – Men’s Team Pursuit: After setting a new world record time of 3:34.47 during the 2020 World Cup in Utah, the four-man team—Ethan Cepuran, Casey Dawson, Emery Lehman, and Joey Mantia—would all earn their first Olympic medals.
Wednesday, Feb. 16:
Gold and silver, Freestyle Skiing – Men’s Aerials: Alexander Hall put down a strong first run after completing a right double cork 1080 into a 900, earning a top score of 90.01, which held for whole competition. Nicholas Goepper repeated his silver medal placing from the last games, earning his third Olympic medal.
Thursday, Feb. 17:
Silver, Women’s Ice Hockey: After beating Finland 4-1 in the semifinals, the women’s team would lose to Canada 3-2 in the final, but still being home a medal. Forward, Abby Roque, became the first Indigenous woman to play on the U.S. Olympic hockey team.
Bronze, Speed Skating – Women’s 1000m: earning her first individual medal but second Olympic medal, the second-time Olympian finished the race in 1:14.61, 1.42 seconds behind the Japanese gold medalist, Miho Takagi.
Saturday, Feb. 19:
Silver and bronze, Men’s Freeski Halfpipe: David Wise, the two-time defending gold medalist would end up with a silver medal after hitting paired back-to-back 1260s in run 1, earning a score of 90.75. Alex Ferreira, who earned the silver medal in PyeonChang, would take home the bronze with a first run score of 86.75
Bronze, 2-woman Bobsled: Elana Meyers Taylor piloted her way to her second medal of the games alongside brakewoman Sylvia Hoffman. Meyers Taylor made history again as becoming the most decorated Black Winter Olympic athlete while also becoming the most decorated female bobsledder and U.S. bobsledder.
Sunday, Feb. 20:
Silver, Cross-Country Skiing – Women’s 30km Freestyle: Jessie Diggins earned her second medal of the games with a time of 1:26:37.3 to become the first American woman to medal in the mass start event. Earlier on Day 4 of the games, Diggins became the first-ever U.S. Olympic athlete to earn a medal in cross-country sprint.
