Broncos score Homecoming win against Johnson C. Smith
posted by Antonio Mitchell | October 19, 2021 | In News, SportsFayetteville State Unieversity played another dominant game on October 16 against Johnson C. Smith University. FSU Broncos won the game 55-12.
All three areas of the game were played to perfection. The offense looked unstoppable throwing and running the ball throughout the game, and the defense was aggressive and shutting JCSU’s offense down. On special teams, they were able to put their offense into great field positions and the punter was able to place the opposing team’s offense into “small room for error” areas on the field.
Another strong performance like this for the next couple of weeks could put the Broncos back into the CIAA championship.
Their next opponent is St. Augustine’s University.
This Homecoming was a first for Chancellor Allison and was a very special one because they received a generous donation from the Lilliam P. Willingham Foundation with an amount of $351,700. Chancellor Allison received the donation during halftime of the game. During halftime, FSU also honored the royal court along with Mister and Misses Homecoming and Mister and Misses FSU.
This Homecoming was a homecoming people needed. FSU alum and the current students could not have their Homecoming last year due to COVID-19, and that brought upon sadness among the alums and students because they were not allowed to enjoy the festivities of Homecoming. With this year’s Homecoming, COVID was still a main concern, but with the help of the vaccines and testing people were able to attend the festivities that came with Homecoming.
