Carowinds Moves To Open Year-Round
posted by Jacqueline Leibman | October 24, 2022 | In NewsOn October 18, Carowinds announced via Twitter that beginning January 2023, the theme park located in Charlotte, NC will move to a year-round operation schedule. The park plans to remain open weekends in January, February, and early March.
Next year will also mark the park’s 50th anniversary, a season appropriately being called a celebration of “50 years of Carolina fun.” In their August 11 news release, it was stated that the park will unveil a new section called Aeronautia Landing.
Opening in 2023, the new section will include five new themed attractions as well as incorporating a preexisting ride. Honoring North Carolina’s slogan “first in flight,” the new section is a “tribute to the Carolinas’ spirit of invention, exploration, and aviation, where guests can immerse themselves in the history and future of flight.”
In addition to new rides, there will also be two new and one “upgraded” dining venues. Features of the new restaurants include: “a craft beer bar and patio, alongside the refresh of an existing location and other new snack locations.” Carowinds promises the new experiences to be fun for the whole family.
They also unveiled the 2023 Gold Season Pass, which can be currently purchased for $120. The pass includes unlimited visits and free parking as well as “unlimited visits for Carolina Harbor Waterpark, admission into seasonal events like Grand Carnivale, SCarowinds and WinterFest, discounts on meals and merchandise, Bring-A-Friend discount offers, and more.”
Carowinds says that the expanded winter operating days will provide “entertainment and additional value to season passholders.” They also anticipate the switch to provide more jobs “to support economic growth for the entire region,” while promoting the park’s commitment to local tourism and to the community.
