Denver Broncos Move On From Big Names
posted by Trevor Lloyd | March 26, 2024 | In SportsThe Denver Broncos look like they are finally ready for a complete rebuild. It has been an eventful week in Mile High since the release of quarterback Russell Wilson. The Broncos now move on from one of his top passing catchers from last year as well.
The team traded wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a fifth and sixth-round pick. Jeudy was the team’s first-round pick in the 2020 draft. Many thought Jeudy would be the same dominant special route runner that he was at University of Alabama. However, that hasn’t been the case for a multitude of reasons. Jeudy has been tied to trade rumors for the better part of two years. Now both sides get a clean slate and a new beginning.
On the other side of the ball, the team parted ways with safety Justin Simmons. Simmons is a four-time second-team All-Pro and is one of the premier safeties in all of football. However, Simmons and the Broncos knew that this was likely to be his last year in blue and orange.
So, the club decided to cut its losses a year early rather than a year too late. With this team doing everything and anything they can to try to cut costs down before the cap hits the team will suffer from Wilson being released. It is anybody’s guess how the team will look or perform next.
