posted by Victoria Walker | April 16, 2021 | In NewsOn April 13, students received an email from university officials stating: “The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have put a pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. There will be no clinic on the Fayetteville State University campus until further notice.”
According to NBC News, the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines are being investigated for a potential link to very rare blood clots. 6 women between the ages of 18 and 48 have developed blood clots after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine out of the approximately 7.5 million doses administered.
The FDA and CDC released statements Tuesday morning recommending the pause “out of an abundance of caution.”
Johnson & Johnson released a statement on Tuesday stating: “The safety and well-being of the people who use our products is our number one priority.” They continued: “We have been working closely with medical experts and health authorities,” also stating that they strongly support open communications of any findings to healthcare professionals and the public.
While the Johnson & Johnson vaccines are on pause, it has not been recalled. Many individuals who have already received this vaccine within the past three weeks are being urged to watch for symptoms and to not panic.
