NFL Season Heating Up
posted by Jordan Chigubu | October 24, 2022 | In SportsFive weeks into the NFL 2022-23 season, and there is so much happening.
Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule was fired after a disappointing 37-15 loss against the San Francisco 49ers. With this firing, it might be difficult for teams to want to go after him with not only an 11-27 record in three seasons, but he also has that hefty remainder of his seven-year $62 million contract in 2020.
Carolina seeks to turn the ship around with Steve Wilks as interim head coach when they go to So-Fi Stadium to face the defending Super Bowl champs Los Angeles Rams.
The AFC divisional round rematch is going to take place Sunday afternoon at 4:25 p.m. between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs.
There are two reasons why this game is so important other than its redemption for both teams. The first is the fact that Bills quarterback Josh Allen is having an MVP caliber season as the Bills look like a team that could very well be in Arizona in February for Super Bowl 57. The second is the Chiefs want to prove to everyone that they are still that dominant force in the AFC without star wide receiver Tyreek Hill who was traded to the Miami Dolphins this past off-season.
Two penalties that have received massive backlash to say the least this season are roughing the passer and pass interference. It seems like every Sunday we see a lot of questionable penalties that cost teams points or yardage. This is the case with the roughing the passer calls this past Sunday there were multiple roughing the passer calls that seemed to be false when reviewed, but of course the officials stuck to their original call.
The NFL world has been in a frenzy about this questioning how can players sack the quarterback without getting the call. The league should immediately look at ways to improve this situation because it is not fair to defensive players.
