Texas Rangers Win First World Series in Franchise History
posted by Zaire Jones | November 7, 2023 | In SportsThe Texas Rangers are on top of the baseball world beating the Arizona Diamondbacks in 5 games to win their first title in franchise history.
Rangers shortstop Corey Seager won the World Series MVP with his historic postseason run. He became the 4th player in MLB history to win multiple WS MVPs. His first came with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the shortened 2020 Season.
The two pitchers on the mound Zac Gallen for the Diamondbacks, and Nathan Eovaldi for the Rangers brought out their best stuff for this game 5. Gallen did not allow a single hit through six innings as he was trying to keep his Diamondbacks alive. Eovaldi was dealing as well, letting very few Diamondback hitters on base.
Deadlock at 0-0 to start the 7th, the Rangers rookie Evan Carter was able to get a double to put Seager and himself in scoring position. Then Mitch Garver came up to the plate and singled to center to bring in Seager and make it 1-0. After that, Gallen’s night was over despite a solid outing.
In the 9th, Texas would finish the Diamondbacks off, scoring 4 more runs capped off by a Marcus Semien 2-run blast to make it a 5-0 game at the final.
From a team that was dead last in their division 2 years ago, it has been an historic turnaround for the Texas Rangers as they are now World Champions.
